I’m working on the list, the list of things I have to do before leaving. It’s not a short list, and before even as I worked on it it still got longer. Finally I think I’ve got every material thing I need to take with me. Now I need to make sure my dental x-rays get to where they need to be so I can be completely qualified. Then I’ve got 2 finals to study for. That and everyone wants to see me before I leave. Lots of stuff to do.
Time to get to work…. after lunch that is!
There is so much to do and so little time. In less than two weeks I’m headed off. To the real south, even further than Texas 😀 The list of things I have to do is not getting any shorter even though I keep scratching things off. Homework has dominated lately, and this week being Thanksgiving will make it harder even though the break will be welcome.
This week we’re going to Dallas to spend time with Grandma and Aunt Charlotte and our cousins. I always look forward to Thanksgiving and this year is no exception. Can’t wait to see everyone.
So yesterday I started attending meeting for Antarctica. I have somehow been out of the loop on those for a while. This has both positives and negatives. First I didn’t spend my time in 6 hour meetings several times per week. But that also left me out of the loop on most issues. I’ve really only done the small tasks that have been given to me, but that’s the way to learn I guess.
In less than 4 weeks I will be gone. The end of my semester is fast approaching!!!! I am really excited about the trip. Actually I can’t confirm my departure since I only sent in my medical packet today. It should arrive tomorrow, and hopefully soon I’ll hear back that I’ve been medically qualified.
Other things are going well. Last weekend I went back to Southwestern for Homecoming and enjoyed myself. People were genuinely interested in what I was doing, and I was happy to see my old friends. It’s funny after all leaving the same place how little we have in common anymore. Maybe that’s not true, but I don’t get to talk to them enough.
Sunday was nice and tiring. After getting very little sleep it was another field trip day for Hydrogeophysics. We spent the entire afternoon hitting an aluminum plate with a sledge hammer making seismic waves. The class recorded those waves for analysis, and if things were done well (and with a little bit of luck) there will be good results for that. Afterward was studying for a test I took yesterday morning. I think I did well but won’t know for another week when the results are in.
This week is moving quickly. Tomorrow is more class. I’ve got a presentation about a paper that is still waiting to be read. Thursday will be easier and capped by a date with Erica. I’m looking forward to that. My favorite improv comedy troop is playing, and the two of us have already seen them once before. They must be good enough to go back.
What’s next? We’ll see. I’m busy with trying to get everything together an plan to be gone for a couple months. Life is about to get interesting for me again – not that I’ve had time to be bored! More on what is going on soon.
